Perhaps for the first time in today's popular state-of-art broadcast, millions of Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans on Wednesday, December 14th watched The Gambia on their TV screens on a popular television syndication called "The Doctors".

A CBS network broadcast, "The Doctors" is a one-hour health and beauty broadcast where a panel of doctors touch on all kinds of health-related interests. According to Patricia Bannan, a Registered Dietician (RD), a guest on the popular show, The Gambia has one of the lowest rates of all types of cancer. She said Gambians could be benefitting from peanut (groundnut) in their dishes. "I actually have been to The Gambia and one of their main exports is peanuts. They use peanuts in so many of their dishes. They have one of the lowest incidents of all types of cancer," she added.

With the flag of The Gambia placed on the screen silhouetted against the larger map of Africa and the world, the tiny Gambia was stilled on TV screens all over America as Patricia Bannan treated host Jilian Michaels to a Gambian 'Domoda' made of peanut butter (Degae), tomato stew and vegetables. Television screens all over America also foot-noted a caption reading "Gambia: Peanut Stew May Lower Cancer".

Bannan also pointed that although Americans hold that peanut can be fattening, it depends on how one makes them in a dish. She mentioned vegetables and spices as additional ingredients in the Gambian dish she presented to the live show. Host Jilian Michaels grabbed the bowl and savored the 'Domoda' stew. "It's not heavy", she remarked, manifesting America's obsession with eating healthy food to avoid being fat.

Dr. Travis Stork, another host of the show opened yesterday’s broadcast that featured The Gambia, happily reciting, "The secrets to a skinnier, healthier, and sexier you!" Patricia Bannan consequently brought forth what she called "Gambian Tomato Peanut Stew", a thumbnail of which is on the show's homepage. She added that peanuts are "super high in protein and anti-oxidants."
